William Krisel designed the 'Sandpiper Circles' at Indian Wells Country Club in the late 1960s, comprising sixteen U-shaped midcentury condominiums around a central atrium. After a prior homeowner enclosed the atrium, our clients sought to restore it, create a chef's dream kitchen, and incorporate finishes that blend the home’s architectural style with modern touches. To restore the atrium, I moved the existing living room's glass wall to make space for a new dining area, using a wood 'drop-ceiling' to define the area while preserving architectural continuity. Recessed LED lighting adds ambiance, making the ceiling appear to float. The expanded kitchen, previously the dining room, features a large island and an updated wet bar connecting to the living area. Our clients' favorite color, Granny Smith apple green, is prominently showcased in the kitchen island countertop, entry wallpaper, and entry door color. This restoration adapts the Indian Wells Krisel Sandpiper for contemporary living while remaining true to its original vision.
